Calling all Mums, Dads & Grandparents!

We would like to bring young and old together.
Our residents would love the opportunity to meet your little ones and can play with them while you have a quiet cuppa!
All children aged 6 months to 5 years welcome!

2nd June 2023
We rescued a baby bird that fell out of its nest!
It was also world milk day and national nail polish day yesterday so we worked on some activities around those
We have also talked about favourite jokes as well as working on some tongue twisters, which is a really good brain work out!!
We've also looked at a wonderful book called 'Curious questions and answers about animals' and made posters about some of the very interesting facts!
Earlier this week our Carers Sarah and Kellie took Graham and Jessie out for a walk to burn off some energy and enjoy all the lovely sunshine!
We've also been having fun this week playing darts with all our residents - it's great for hand eye coordination and brings out our competitive spirit!

We had the most wonderful day at Peak Wildlife Park last week.
We saw so many lovely and funny animals, from monkeys and llamas to meerkats and giant tortoises!
Our residents all agreed that it was the best day out we've been on yet!
25th May 2023
The ice cream van came for a visit yesterday, which brought some delicious 99 flakes and some very happy smiles!
The sunshine has also meant that we've been able to get out in the garden for our painting session - which has created some real inspiration! Just take a look at the work of art created by one of our residents!! We thought we should frame it for Facebook!
We've also created some beautiful flower pot pictures and have been enjoying watching the sun shine though our window display

This week we've also been busy with a wonderful Sensory Smell quiz. Smell is so important for our residents since it brings back so many memories and we had a good time reminiscing about these and other scents.
Our residents have also been hard at work creating some beautiful Spring flowers, which we will be putting up on the window later this week, so that the sun can glow through their tissue-paper centres!
19th May 2023
Earlier this week we took advantage of this lovely Spring sunshine to get out in our garden and start working with the plants. It's so good for all of us to plant and watch things grow and feel the sunshine on our faces
Later this week we took a trip to our local cafe with a couple of our residents...and had some delicious cake, of course!
15th May 2023
On Saturday we tested our brains with some different puzzles and made the most of the sunshine by taking our painting outside. We created a wonderful display!
On Sunday, our lovely Activities Coordinator, Beth took Barbara and Connie to the Dingle so they could enjoy the sunshine on a lovely day.

This week we also had a lovely trip to Apedale Heritage Centre. It was so nice to be outside, have a picnic and spend some time wandering around

last week Janet took our lovely resident John to the wrestling again - and they had a brilliant time! Lots of smiles!
This week we used a book about taste to inspire us to think about different tastes - of course, that meant we needed to taste lots of lovely things...like crisps, biscuits and chocolate!
We've also started to write out lyric sheets for our residents so they can really enjoy a sing-a-long on the karaoke!

Our Coronation Tea Party!
What a lovely afternoon we all had - full of fun, fantastic food and flags.
We all really enjoyed the music and dancing!
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us and a HUGE thank you to all the staff at Florence House who put in so much work to make this a wonderful day. You are a right royal bunch of superstars!!
