Florence House care home - food for thought

06/05/13

NOW aged 86, I never expected to witness a 'modern miracle'. But from the vantage point of my first floor window, I witnessed new mattresses unloaded and delivered to the first floor, where my existing one was replaced and the bed made ready for my evening sleep. This entire operation was completed in less than five minutes. Florence House is a
care home of distinction because staff co-operate in such a natural way that we residents enjoy a tranquility that is, on some occasions, broken by an outburst following some minor frustration, a natural indulgence at old age.

I cannot remember ever contemplating older age but this incident has made me realise that the pace at which the younger generation now operate, in every way, is for the majority perhaps greater than we ever previously experienced, and may curtail the life span of future generations. Food for thought.
