2019.10.15 - Blackpool Trip Thumb.jpgSafe Harbor residents from several care homes from Stoke-on-Trent have joined together for a day trip out to a well-known seaside resort.

Residents, along with carers, from Agnes and Arthur, Haversham House and The Place Up Hanley travelled together to the Northern town of Blackpool, in Lancashire, to spend the day taking in the sights and to see the annual light festival.

On arrival, everyone was dropped off near to Blackpool Tower and Central Pier and spent time wandering along the coast and the pier, as well as spending time in the amusement arcades.

For dinner, residents settled in to Peggy's Snack Bar at Coral Island amusements for a wide selection of freshly prepared meals such as, traditional fish and chips and bangers and mash.

After everyone had had their fill they set off back to the coach to take a ride through the annual Blackpool Illuminations.

The Blackpool Illuminations were first switched on in 1879 and now stretch for over 6 miles along Blackpool Promenade.

Transport was provided by Stanton's of Stoke. Established in 2015, the coach company is managed and operated by the Stanton family. The driver, Duncan, was a super host and extremely helpful.

Safe Harbor homes have regular outings to many different places far afield and closer to home. If you would like to know what else is going on in our homes you can like our Facebook Page to see the latest happenings and events.
