Scores turn out for charity walk

This year's guest of honour Gordon Banks, pictured centre, led the way for more than 100 walkers. Many of the walkers were residents and staff from care homes including from New Park House Residential Care Home, Trentham, and the Bupa Stadium Court Nursing Home in Festival Park. Organiser Pat Bentley, aged 63, from Cheddleton, said: "Last year we raised £2,000 and I think we've probably beaten that this time. "This is the fifth year of the memory walk and the youngest walker this year was a two-year-old while the oldest was 100." An Alzheimer's Society race night will take place on Friday at Wye Road Community Centre in Newcastle, starting at 8pm
