At Safe Harbor, we’re proud to provide more than just care. Indeed, we create a sense of belonging, safety, and purpose across our care homes in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Furthermore, from residential and dementia care to respite stays, our experienced teams offer support that truly puts people first.
What sets us apart is our people. Specifically, the kind, skilled professionals who bring our values to life every day.
Our Values
Together
We believe that strong relationships between team members, residents, and families produce the best trusted care. As a result, we create welcoming communities where we respect and include everyone. Whether through a shared laugh, a group activity, or a supportive conversation, we build our homes on genuine human connection.
Safe
We prioritize safety as the foundation of everything we do. Therefore, we design secure environments and create robust care plans to ensure our residents feel secure and cared for, day and night. In addition, our in-house trainer prepares our teams to the highest standards, while we continuously review our practices to protect both physical and emotional well-being.
Improving
We commit to growing every day, just like the people we support. Consequently, we invest in ongoing staff training, listen to feedback, and always look for ways to improve the experience for our residents and their loved ones.
Compassion
Care without compassion is just a task. At Safe Harbor, every resident is treated as a unique individual with their own story, needs, and preferences. You are listened to, your needs are understood, and the extra mile is gone by our team to ensure support is provided that is gentle, thoughtful, and respectful.

Compliance Manager
Anita Hopkins
Compliance Manager
Anita Hopkins is the Group Compliance Manager at Safe Harbor Residential Care, bringing over 20 years of experience in the health and social care sector. She joined Safe Harbor 12 years ago and has progressed through every level of care leadership within the group — from Senior Care Assistant to Floor Manager, Deputy Manager, and Registered Home Manager — before being appointed Group Compliance Manager in 2022. In this role, she drives quality standards across all three Safe Harbor homes, ensuring outstanding person-centred care and full alignment with CQC and Health and Social Care guidance.
Before joining Safe Harbor, Anita delivered community-based palliative care with Douglas MacMillan Care, supporting patients and families through end-of-life care, and provided individual PA-based support for people with complex physical and mental health needs in their own homes. She is a registered member of Skills for Care and holds active memberships with several manager forums, including the Outstanding Society, attending regular meetings to ensure Safe Harbor remains aligned with the latest CQC guidance and best practice.
Anita is driven by a genuine passion for delivering outstanding, person-centred care — particularly for those who may not always have a voice. Her experience across very different care environments has reinforced her belief that quality is not just a standard to be met, but a commitment to be lived every day. She is proud to work within an organisation whose values she shares deeply — Safety, Compassion, working Together, and striving for continuous Improvement — and considers it a privilege to help uphold those values across Safe Harbor’s three homes and to support the teams who make a real difference in residents’ lives.
